Directions for use

Place the Hawkeye applicator dots under or behind any furniture, under the sinks in the kitchen and bathroom, next to the dishwasher, in cabinets, behind the fridge, freezer, and the oven where cockroach infestations are found and apply bait on the dots on the marked area (dime sized). Apply the bait in cracks and crevices.

Put the applicator dots close to areas where cockroaches hide, e.g. cracks and crevices. Cockroaches do not need to be fed every day, therefore only some of the cockroaches emerge to find food each day. The closer the bait is to their hiding places, the better.

If you have a large infestation, place the dot applicators about 3 inches apart in several locations at the same time. For smaller colonies, they can be placed 2 to 3 feet apart. Focus on the kitchen and bathroom, these are the most likely places cockroaches will be hiding.

Monitor and reapply – keep an eye on the amount of bait present and check back every couple of days. Reapply the bait on the dot applicators if necessary, until you see no more feeding on the bait and you notice no cockroach droppings (if that was the case before).

Note: If it looks like the Hawkeye Cockroach Bait has not been frequented by cockroaches, then try changing the placement of the dot applicators to another location in the house and checking again in a couple of days.

Do not spray around your dot placements with cleaning agents or other insecticides, as this can discourage cockroaches from taking the bait.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Cockroach Bait best placed inside the home?

Hawkeye roach bait should be applied in cracks and crevices. Place several widely spaced dime-sized spots of Hawkeye roach bait under or behind any furniture, under the sink in the kitchen and bathroom, next to the dishwasher, behind the oven where cockroach infestation is found. Periodically check the bait for consumption or attractiveness and reapply if needed or clean the remaining paste if dead cockroaches are spotted and there is no further cockroach movement/infestation.

*Notes: Baits may require a couple of weeks to significantly reduce cockroach population numbers, so be patient.

What is the active ingredient?

Hawkeye Cockroach Bait is made from 0.6% indoxacarb. Indoxacarb has a low mammalian toxicity and is one of the safer insecticide active ingredients available to use around people and pets. The product itself is no more toxic than table salt, but we still never recommend having it anywhere where it could be ingested by children or pets.

How do I know if the Cockroach Bait is working?

The number one sign is fewer cockroaches out in the open. You should also find fewer droppings (if that has been a problem). Remember to keep an eye on the bait. At first, if it is disappearing quickly, that means that the roaches are feeding on it. As time goes on, you should find more bait left over as fewer cockroaches will be feeding as it slowly kills the colony.

How long does the Cockroach Bait take to work?

You can start seeing dead roaches within 5-6 hours and should start to see significant reduction in roach infestation within a week. After 2 weeks, over 90% of the roaches will have been eliminated. We do encourage you to keep using Hawkeye Cockroach Bait until you stop seeing roach activity completely or no feeding on the bait is occurring.

What are the noticeable signs in your home of having a cockroach infestation?

Cockroach faeces/droppings: these may vary from the size of coffee grounds or black pepper (small roaches e.g. German cockroach) to a bit larger cylindrical droppings (in case of larger roach infestation e.g. American roaches). The quantity of visible faeces is oftentimes a good indicator of the level of cockroach infestation.
Unpleasant smell- A strong musty odour may be present in cockroach infested areas and this is particularly noticeable with American roach infestation or a very high German roach infestation. The bodies of dead cockroaches can also be found throughout the house.
Adult cockroaches and their eggs- adults may be seen around pantry areas especially at night-time. Oval-shaped egg cases can also be seen glued in pantry, behind furniture or in other hidden locations, such as the spaces between books, under sink etc.

What do I do if I notice Cockroaches outside and around my home?

The best thing to do in this situation if you notice a lot of them around your home, is to use our (Hawkeye Spider and Insect Spray) as a preventative. You can spray the areas you notice the cockroaches hanging out.

Technical Information

Hawkeye Cockroach Bait is a combination of slow acting insecticide (Indoxacarb 0.6%) and food attractants. It attracts cockroaches to find and eat the bait’s poisonous active.

Cockroaches begin to die after 5-6 hours of ingesting the bait.

Hawkeye Cockroach Bait wipes out an average to medium roach population in 1-2 weeks but can take about 4 weeks under high infestation levels. Under high infestation levels we recommend to use Hawkeye Flea, Ant and Roach Spray for a quick knock down of highly active cockroaches.

One 15g tube of bait is sufficient to kill an average infestation of cockroaches in houses and commercial kitchens.

This bait is of minimal hazard to children and pets, additionally the benefit of placing it in hard to reach areas away from pets and children further reduces the risk

Effectiveness
The bait is effective against a broad range of cockroaches including Gisborne,  American, and German cockroaches. The lethal ingredient Indoxacarb is slow acting, and due to the nature of cockroach feeding patterns, it spreads throughout the whole population.

It can eliminate cockroaches in a variety of residential and commercial settings, including hotels, schools, hospitals, warehouses, restaurants and food handling facilities, supermarkets, commercial, and industrial buildings. The key to success with baits is product placement. Treatment sites for German cockroaches include under/around sinks and toilets, behind refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, near trash containers, inside cabinets, and storage areas.

Always read the label and apply as per directions.
